When the war began, Arzu's children were still very young, the eldest was just over a year old and the second just a few months. She gave the children to her mother who brought them to safety in Oguz. She herself stayed with her husband, who was fighting at the front. The children however would simply not go to sleep without their mother, so their grandma gave them one of Arzu's dresses in their bed and they cuddled it, allowing them to sleep at last. The worst thing for her is not being able to visit the graves of her parents in the occupied area, and her greatest wish is everyone's wish: to die where her roots are. Sometimes she dreams that she is a yellow leaf blown by the wind to the place of her forefathers.
